Saul Canal Festival 2008

The Saul Canal Festival with Folk on the Water, held over the weekend 4 to 6 July, provided visitors with a wonderful mixture of boats, music, trade stands and family entertainment.

Organised by volunteers from the Cotswold Canals Trust, and supported by sponsors, the event raised thousands of pounds towards the restoration of the Stroudwater and Thames & Severn Canals.

The event was formally opened by BBC2's Coast presenter Mark Horton, who arrived on his yacht Mignonette and was welcomed by Trust Chairman Liz Payne. (Photo: Martin Turner)

The festival attracted a wide variety of craft.

This motor and butty pair made a colourful sight.

The Oliver Cromwell was a performance venue as
well as being the festival's floating hotel.

The restored lifeboat The Always Ready won the award for the best boat in the parade.
