Photographic Competition


As part of the Gloucester Tall Ships Festival over the weekend 29-31 May 2009, the Friends of the National Waterways Museum are offering prizes for photographs of tall ships taken during the Festival. Entries have closed and the results should be available by the end of June.
 

Tall Ships Photographic Competition
     The Friends of the National Waterways Museum and Severnprint Ltd are offering prizes for photographs of tall ships taken during the Gloucester Tall Ships Festival 29-31 May 2009. The best two entries from those (a) over 16 years old and (b) 16 or under will receive a copy of the new book Gloucester Docks – An Historical Guide and a professionally printed poster and 10 postcards of their winning images. A wider selection of images will be featured on this website, with favourites also receiving a poster of their image. Send digital images to tallships@thewaterwaystrust.org.uk and post prints to Tall Ships Competition, National Waterways Museum, The Docks, Gloucester, GL1 2EH (with a stamped addressed envelope if the print is to be returned), stating age if 16 or under. Entries close 14 June 2009, and results will be announced on this website by the end of June. The judges' decision will be final.


New Guide Book

     This new book by Hugh Conway-Jones describes the historical background to surviving features of interest around the docks, and it is well illustrated with many old and new photographs. Copies are available from the National Waterways Museum shop and other outlets, price £5.00.
