Lydney Yacht Club's Gloucester Ring Cruise

When the tide is suitable, Lydney Yacht Club organises a cruise to Gloucester and back, going up the river and returning via the canal. They choose a day when there is a big tide that will allow them to pass over Llanthony Weir and turn into Gloucester Lock just before the tide starts to ebb. After lunch in Gloucester and a leisurely cruise down the canal, they have to wait at Sharpness for the evening tide when they cross the river back to Lydney.
